Coloma—set during the California Gold Rush of 1848—casts you as a pioneer determined to strike it rich. As fortune turns, you’ll prospect for gold, recruit workers, wrangle horses, establish businesses, and explore frontier lands. But beware: every other pioneer is gunning for the same rewards. Strategic timing, clever planning, and adapting to shifting action opportunities are your best tools for success.

Gameplay Highlights

• Each round (or “chapter”) begins with simultaneous action selection. If a majority of players choose the same action, it becomes a “Bust,” canceling out bonus effects—adding tension and strategic depth.

• Following action selection, players gain resources, move wagons across the map, build bridges and businesses, and place camps and gunmen. Then, a section of the board rotates, changing the layout and creating evolving opportunities.

• When the rotating section hits “high noon,” a shootout breaks out! If players collectively outnumber the outlaws, they reap full rewards; if not, they suffer reduced payouts and lose gunmen.

• After three shootouts, points are tallied: the pioneer with the most points—earned via smart resource use, efficient tableau-building (town cards), and strategic bridge placement—wins.
